Halloween will be here before we know it! My boyfriend and I rotate every year as to what our Halloween characters are going to be. After a quick Pinterest search, I stumbled upon one of Lauren Conrad’s Halloween costumes. One year, she dressed up as Mary Poppins and I was immediately inspired. This couples costume is so much fun to put together and is super affordable.
I started with a chiffon top. I made sure to look for one that had some lace to give a European look. If you cannot find one exactly like mine, a plain collared shirt works just as well. I then paired the top with a solid black skater skirt. I purchased black sweater tights (because I am always cold). Plus, Mary Poppins is a lady. I couldn’t look too risqué! I used an old pair of booties for my shoes which paired flawlessly with my tights.
Finding the right hat was a bit of a hassle but I was able to find the perfect one on Amazon. Mary Poppins has flowers and what looks like cranberries on her hat. After a quick visit to my local arts and crafts store, I found the right items for Mary’s hat. Since she has flowers and what looks like berries in her hat, I had to do some digging at the store. The cranberries that I used for my hat were in the Christmas decoration section. The hat has a ribbons around it so all you have to do is tuck in the flowers and cranberries into the hat with little to no hassle. I also purchased a red bow tie for this look form Amazon too. I was able to find the parrot umbrella online on the Disney Store website last year (I purchased it during last September). I will keep on eye out for it if comes back in stock.
Bert’s look is super simple to put together. He used a pair of dress pants and dress shoes for his costume from his closet. He used a solid grey long sleeve shirt and a grey vest. Don’t worry if the shirt and vest are not the same shade of grey. Patrick’s shirt and vest were not the same shade but still paired well together! There are a few items that Patrick had to purchase. The chimney broom was also an item that we found on Amazon. He also had to take a shopping trip to find his hat and his scarf. For his gloves, Patrick bought a cheap pair of gloves from Kohls and cut off the finger tips from the gloves. All there that’s left to do is throw some grey eyeshadow all over your face and the look is complete!
I have a confession to make: I have never shopped at Loft before. When I heard that Loft has a petite section available, I had to check it out for myself. I decided to go into Loft to find pieces that I can use both for summer and fall. My search leave me to find Loft’s Minibloom utility blouse because the print is very much 70’s inspired. It caught my eye with the blouse beautiful, but simple floral print.
I am not usually an XS when it comes to purchasing blouses. At Loft, an XS fit me well. This shirt is super light which makes it a great piece to use for the rest of the summer. It is great to use with shorts, pants, or even tucked in with a skirt.
When I took these photos, it was super humid outside. I was grateful that my Loft blouse was not weight me down despite the heat. In these images, I paired the blouse with Lauren Conrad’s cuffed jean shorts. The denim shorts I have in these images are not on Kohls’ website unless you want colored shorts. I found a high waisted option by Lauren Conrad that is a great alternative. High waisted shorts and pants are perfect for petite bodies as they make your legs appear longer.
I have been featuring my Hinge ‘Drea’ Peep Toe Sandals a lot this month but that is because they are so comfortable (and gorgeous). The earrings that are featured with this look are from Francesca’s. I purchased them on clearance a few months ago. The earrings I chose for a fun pop of color.
I have to say that the fact that September is around the corner is very bittersweet for me. Now that I am done with college, it feels strange that I am not going back to school. This is a great look that you can rock on your first day of school. I have always been a firm believe to dress for success. “You only get a make a first impression once. Make sure it is a good one”. This is one of the best pieces of advice I have ever recieved. You don’t have to wear the most expensive dress or shoes to make a good first impression. However, make an effort to dress professionally. If you want to wear sweatpants and a t-shirt, I am certainly not going to judge you (I promise). Keep this in mind this semester: You never know who you are going to meet during college courses or internships. Make the most of this school year by putting your best foot forward with your academics and how you dress.
Year after year, I fall in love with pieces from LC Lauren Conrad. Lauren Conrad mixes a great blends of sophistication and feminine details. There are some pieces that LC Lauren Conrad has that do not fit my petite frame well. During my latest trip to Kohls, I found a print a-line drew that I was very impressed with.
In the past, I always ordered dresses from LC Lauren Conrad in a size 4. Usually when I wear dresses from this brand, they can run small. It did have some extra room from my bra line to my waist so I chose to wear this dress with a chiffon belt. Not to worry, the dress still looks awesome with the belt. The earrings that I paired with this look are from H&M. I found these in store. Sorry, I could not find these earrings featured in this shoot online. You can, however, find similar earrings from H&M here. I completed my look for this shoot with my favorite sandals from Hinge. I have used this pair of sandals in a lot of my recents shoots. I am a sucker for shoes of both comfort and style! 😉
This piece comes in three colors. I chose to go with the pattern called Georgie Garden. I chose this color because it really makes the Peter Pan collar on it pop. The print of this dress is going to be a great transitional piece for when fall arrives. The dress is super easy to keep clean. Since it is made out of polyester, it is machine washable. I have been washing the dress inside out to keep the print from fading. Use code BUGS to redeem a discount online to get 20% off your entire purchase.
Thanks again to Belkin Images for capturing these incredible photos and sponsoring this post!
In life things are certainly not going to go as planned. Earlier this week, I certainly had some curveballs that were thrown at me. As I was getting ready for my shoot, I decided to go home and get some additional accessories, shoes, etc. It turns out that my driveway was blocked off for the day due to construction. So I had to make due with whatever I had with me in my car!
The shoot started off well. Even though it was insanely hot, somehow my makeup stayed on and the photos were turning out great. After I went to change into my third outfit in my photographer’s car, I suddenly felt a sharp pinch. I panicked because I was sure I was stung by a wasp. I felt around my shoulder and felt a long, worm looking bug on my shoulder! I started to scream and my photographer ran over to take a look. The worm I was feeling was one off of a fishing hook and the hook was what was causing the pain. In my scurry to change, the hook got stuck in my shoulder! So the shoot ended with me at a medical express to get it out. Needless to say, things are not always going to go as planned. Nonetheless, I can now laugh about it. My clumsiness has officially taken to a whole new level!
Anyway, now that I have shared my story let’s dive into the review. The short-sleeve lace top that I have on is by Banana Republic. Within the span of a few weeks the top got sold out. However, this is the second time this year that the top was available for purchase so I will be sure to keep an eye out for all of you when it is back in stock. This top does not come in petite sizes. I originally purchased the top as an extra small but it was far too tight (for me anyway). I ended up returning the xs for a size small. As far as maintenance is concerned, I am making sure that I hand wash it. You can totally get away with wearing a bralette with this shirt as it has great coverage under all the lace.
The skirt that I paired with this lace top is the AG ‘Erin’ Cutoff Denim Skirt (Sail Away). It’s literally a demin pencil skirt. With the how hot it has been in the east coast, the last think I want to wear is pants or even shorts. I am wearing the skirt in a size 27. To finish the look I chose my Hinge’Drea’ Peep Toe Leather Sandals in Blush (rather, that was I had in my car after the crazy Monday I went through lol). I chose an old necklace from Express to add some sparkle to my look.
I chose not to tuck in this lace top so I could show you how it looks on a petite-sized woman. It is a great top to tuck in with a skirt or pants. I wore it earlier this week at work and it gives the look of a crop top (that you can wear stylishly and appropriately). I do hope that this top does come back in stock on Banana Republic’s website. It is a great summer/fall transition piece. What pieces have you purchased this summer that sold out quickly? Feel free to let me know by commenting below!
Nothing beats a great sale. Especially when it comes to basic pieces, I like to keep my price points low. During a recent haul to H&M, I found a beautiful striped tee shirt that costs $14.99! (Sorry, I can’t find it online but I found a long sleeve version of this shirt here). I love this shirt because it is so versatile. I also love that the shoulders of this shirt have a these gold button details. Today, I am going to show you how you can rock this shirt in three different ways.
In order to avoid spending too much money every month, I try to only buy pieces that I can use both at work and casually. I love these 7 for All Mankind Colored Ankle skinny jeans. They are petite friendly and they are super comfortable. I was not able to find these specific pants online but if you are looking for a similar style of jeans in a traditional blue color, they can be found here. The shoes I decided to add this look are by Hinge. You can get these shoes in black as well. Additionally, I finalized this look with a Roxy Cork Clutch that i received from my latest Stitch Fix. If you have never tried Stitch Fix, be sure to check out my review.
This look can easier be worn at or casually on a night out. There is a lot of class with modest fashion. Step outside of your comfort zone and try a pair of colored jeans. Doing so is a great way to spice up your wardrobe. This look is also a great transition look from summer to fall. Add to your look by rocking a bold, red lip color. I am wearing Anastasia Beverly Hills in Bloodline.
You never want to wear white to someone’s wedding. If you are going to a wedding that is less traditional, it’s ok to wear white as long as it is not solid white dress. Since this dress is striped, it is perfect to pair with a patterned maxi skirt. Lauren Conrad came out with a runway collection last year and this is one of my favorite pieces from the collection. This is a great, romantic look for a wedding. I chose to pair this look with these lace up Steven Madden shoes. They give you a little bit of height but are also super comfortable.
The necklace I am wearing is a choker from Express. I was not able to find the exact choker for purchase online but Express does have a great selection of chokers here. Complete this look with a matte lipstick and you are ready to party! The matte lipstick is a nude pink color that I got in my latest Birchbox.
Spice up your date night by mixing patterns. I love this Banana Republic Flair print skirt. It looks a lot longer on the model so keep that in mind before you decide to purchase it. I am wearing this skirt in 2P. If I chose to purchase this skirt in regular sizing, go a size down (for example, I would select a skirt that is a regular size in 0).
Add some spark to your look with a pair of your favorite earrings and a fun lip color. The lipgloss I am wearing is Covergirl’s Lip Lava in “Look It’s Lava“. I decided to pair this look with my Kate Spade bag. I have never had a real luxury bag in my life so purchasing this bag was a real milestone for me. If you get a chance, treat yourself to a handbag. I am certainly glad I did.
