LOFT Minibloom Utility Blouse + LC Lauren Conrad Cuffed Jean Shorts

I have a confession to make: I have never shopped at Loft before. When I heard that Loft has a petite section available, I had to check it out for myself. I decided to go into Loft to find pieces that I can use both for summer and fall. My search leave me to find Loft’s Minibloom utility blouse because the print is very much 70’s inspired. It caught my eye with the blouse beautiful, but simple floral print.

I am not usually an XS when it comes to purchasing blouses. At Loft, an XS fit me well. This shirt is super light which makes it a great piece to use for the rest of the summer. It is great to use with shorts, pants, or even tucked in with a skirt.

When I took these photos, it was super humid outside. I was grateful that my Loft blouse was not weight me down despite the heat. In these images, I paired the blouse with Lauren Conrad’s cuffed jean shorts. The denim shorts I have in these images are not on Kohls’ website unless you want colored shorts. I found a high waisted option by Lauren Conrad that is a great alternative. High waisted shorts and pants are perfect for petite bodies as they make your legs appear longer.

I have been featuring my  Hinge ‘Drea’ Peep Toe Sandals a lot this month but that is because they are so comfortable (and gorgeous). The earrings that are featured with this look are from Francesca’s. I purchased them on clearance a few months ago. The earrings I chose for a fun pop of color.

I have to say that the fact that September is around the corner is very bittersweet for me. Now that I am done with college, it feels strange that I am not going back to school. This is a great look that you can rock on your first day of school. I have always been a firm believe to dress for success. “You only get a make a first impression once. Make sure it is a good one”. This is one of the best pieces of advice I have ever recieved. You don’t have to wear the most expensive dress or shoes to make a good first impression. However, make an effort to dress professionally. If you want to wear sweatpants and a t-shirt, I am certainly not going to judge you (I promise). Keep this in mind this semester: You never know who you are going to meet during college courses or internships. Make the most of this school year by putting your best foot forward with your academics and how you dress.

LC Lauren Conrad Floral Print A-Line Dress

Year after year, I fall in love with pieces from LC Lauren Conrad. Lauren Conrad mixes a great blends of sophistication and feminine details. There are some pieces that LC Lauren Conrad has that do not fit my petite frame well. During my latest trip to Kohls, I found a print a-line drew that I was very impressed with.

Dress: LC Lauren Conrad | Earrings: H&M

In the past, I always ordered dresses from LC Lauren Conrad in a size 4. Usually when I wear dresses from this brand, they can run small. It did have some extra room from my bra line to my waist so I chose to wear this dress with a chiffon belt. Not to worry, the dress still looks awesome with the belt. The earrings that I paired with this look are from H&M. I found these in store. Sorry, I could not find these earrings featured in this shoot online. You can, however, find similar earrings from H&M here. I completed my look for this shoot with my favorite sandals from Hinge. I have used this pair of sandals in a lot of my recents shoots. I am a sucker for shoes of both comfort and style! 😉

This piece comes in three colors. I chose to go with the pattern called Georgie Garden. I chose this color because it really makes the Peter Pan collar on it pop. The print of this dress is going to be a great transitional piece for when fall arrives. The dress is super easy to keep clean. Since it is made out of polyester, it is machine washable. I have been washing the dress inside out to keep the print from fading. Use code BUGS to redeem a  discount online to get 20% off your entire purchase.

BR Short-Sleeve Lace Top + AG ‘Erin’ Cutoff Denim Skirt

In life things are certainly not going to go as planned. Earlier this week, I certainly had some curveballs that were thrown at me. As I was getting ready for my shoot, I decided to go home and get some additional accessories, shoes, etc. It turns out that my driveway was blocked off for the day due to construction. So I had to make due with whatever I had with me in my car!

The shoot started off well. Even though it was insanely hot, somehow my makeup stayed on and the photos were turning out great. After I went to change into my third outfit in my photographer’s car, I suddenly felt a sharp pinch. I panicked because I was sure I was stung by a wasp. I felt around my shoulder and felt a long, worm looking bug on my shoulder! I started to scream and my photographer ran over to take a look. The worm I was feeling was one off of a fishing hook and the hook was what was causing the pain. In my scurry to change, the hook got stuck in my shoulder! So the shoot ended with me at a medical express to get it out. Needless to say, things are not always going to go as planned. Nonetheless, I can now laugh about it. My clumsiness has officially taken to a whole new level!

Top: Banana Republic (SOLD OUT) | Skirt: Nordstrom | Shoes: Nordstrom | Necklace: Express (OLD) | Nail Color: OPI in Koala Berry | Lipcolor: LOREAL Infallible Pro-Last Lip Color in Timeless Rose.

Anyway, now that I have shared my story let’s dive into the review. The short-sleeve lace top that I have on is by Banana Republic. Within the span of a few weeks the top got sold out. However, this is the second time this year that the top was available for purchase so I will be sure to keep an eye out for all of you when it is back in stock. This top does not come in petite sizes. I originally purchased the top as an extra small but it was far too tight (for me anyway). I ended up returning the xs for a size small. As far as maintenance is concerned, I am making sure that I hand wash it. You can totally get away with wearing a bralette with this shirt as it has great coverage under all the lace.

The skirt that I paired with this lace top is the AG ‘Erin’ Cutoff Denim Skirt (Sail Away). It’s literally a demin pencil skirt. With the how hot it has been in the east coast, the last think I want to wear is pants or even shorts. I am wearing the skirt in a size 27. To finish the look I chose my Hinge’Drea’ Peep Toe Leather Sandals in Blush (rather, that was I had in my car after the crazy Monday I went through lol). I chose an old necklace from Express to add some sparkle to my look.

I chose not to tuck in this lace top so I could show you how it looks on a petite-sized woman. It is a great top to tuck in with a  skirt or pants. I wore it earlier this week at work and it gives the look of a crop top (that you can wear stylishly and appropriately). I do hope that this top does come back in stock on Banana Republic’s website. It is a great summer/fall transition piece. What pieces have you purchased this summer that sold out quickly? Feel free to let me know by commenting below!

Striped Short Sleeve Shirt: 3 Looks

Nothing beats a great sale. Especially when it comes to basic pieces, I like to keep my price points low. During a recent haul to H&M, I found a beautiful striped tee shirt that costs $14.99! (Sorry, I can’t find it online but I found a long sleeve version of this shirt here). I love this shirt because it is so versatile. I also love that the shoulders of this shirt have a these gold button details. Today, I am going to show you how you can rock this shirt in three different ways.
Business Casual
In order to avoid spending too much money every month, I try to only buy pieces that I can use both at work and casually. I love these 7 for All Mankind Colored Ankle skinny jeans.  They are petite friendly and they are super comfortable. I was not able to find these specific pants online but if you are looking for a similar style of jeans in a traditional blue color, they can be found here. The shoes I decided to add this look are by Hinge. You can get these shoes in black as well. Additionally, I finalized this look with a Roxy Cork Clutch that i received from my latest Stitch Fix. If you have never tried Stitch Fix, be sure to check out my review.
This look can easier be worn at or casually on a night out. There is a lot of class with modest fashion. Step outside of your comfort zone and try a pair of colored jeans. Doing so is a great way to spice up your wardrobe. This look is also a great transition look from summer to fall. Add to your look by rocking a bold, red lip color. I am wearing Anastasia Beverly Hills in Bloodline.
Wedding Look
You never want to wear white to someone’s wedding. If you are going to a wedding that is less traditional, it’s ok to wear white as long as it is not solid white dress. Since this dress is striped, it is perfect to pair with a patterned maxi skirt. Lauren Conrad came out with a runway collection last year and this is one of my favorite pieces from the collection. This is a great, romantic look for a wedding. I chose to pair this look with these lace up Steven Madden shoes. They  give you a little bit of height but are also super comfortable.
Timeless_Optmist_Steve_Madden_Rizzaa Ankle_Strap_Sandal_Lauren_Conrad_runway_skirt_2.jpg
The necklace I am wearing is a choker from Express. I was not able to find the exact choker for purchase online but Express does have a great selection of chokers here. Complete this look with a matte lipstick and you are ready to party! The matte lipstick is a nude pink color that I got in my latest Birchbox.
Date Night
Spice up your date night by mixing patterns. I love this Banana Republic Flair print skirt. It looks a lot longer on the model so keep that in mind before you decide to purchase it. I am wearing this skirt in 2P. If I chose to purchase this skirt in regular sizing, go a size down (for example, I would select a skirt that is a regular size in 0).
timeless_optimist_skirt .jpg
Add some spark to your look with a pair of your favorite earrings and a fun lip color. The lipgloss I am wearing is Covergirl’s Lip Lava in “Look It’s LavaI decided to pair this look with my Kate Spade bag. I have never had a real luxury bag in my life so purchasing this bag was a real milestone for me. If you get a chance, treat yourself to a handbag. I am certainly glad I did.

Paige ‘Jimmy Jimmy’ Demin Short Atticus

Cheers to hump day! This summer sure has been one for the records books. With record highs through the east coast finding a casual (and stylish) outfit can be tough. One of this year’s hottest trends are boyfriend styled jeans. It has become a new favorite of mine. If you had no had a chance to try boyfriend styled jeans, I challenge you to try them. They will be a great addition to your wardrobe.

While I have a petite frame, I am not a size 0. As such, finding shorts and jeans can be tough. I admittedly did not dive into boyfriend styled jeans until I received a pair from one of my Trunk Club boxes. I fell in love because for the first time I found a pair of shorts that fit well and are super comfortable. I love that they these shorts fit well, but loosely. When I first tried on these shorts, they felt a little loose on my hips so you may need to use a belt for the first few times you wear them. They fit much better now that they have been washed and dried. I am wearing size 27.

I decided to pair these Paige ‘Jimmy Jimmy’ shorts with a chiffon shirt. When I was in Tampa, it was ridiculously humid. As such, the last thing I wanted to wear was heels. The sandals I am wearing are from Nike. They are super comfortable and give fantastic support if you are taking a walk on a hot, summer day. My cousin brought me back a Pura Vida bracelet from Costa Rica. I am in love with this company. Pure Vida makes handmade bracelets that are absolutely stunning! “Pura Vida” is Spanish for “pure life”, which is a Costa Rican philosophy . The best way to explain “Pura Vida” is that it is Costa Rica’s hakuna matata. Pure vida loves! I hope you all have a great week.

Birchbox: July Box

Ah, morning routines. They can be so relaxing or so hectic depending on how much time you have in the a.m. to get ready. For the month of July, Birchbox decided to send products to your morning beauty routine. So, let’s review the first product that I tried in July’s Birchbox:

Marchelle’s 3-in-1 Micellar Solution:

If there is one thing I hate it is you waking up in the morning to find that you have raccoon eyes from mascara that was left behind. I am so glad that Birchbox sent this sample because this three in one formula works as a cleanses your skin, makeup remover, and helps soothe your skin. Sure enough, this product does work well to take off your makeup without leaving your skin greasy. I even tried this solution against waterproof mascara. This solution is tough enough to take off anything you put on your face without over scrubbing it. If you have sensitive skin, this is a great product to have! Side note, if you are as lazy as I am when it comes to taking off your makeup, this product will certainly be your go-to cleanser.

Supergoop!® Defense Refresh Setting Mist SPF 50:

The number one topic you will find on all beauty websites and blogs is the fact that we need to wear sunscreen. In fact, dermatologist continue to stress that wearing sunscreen every day is important to prevent premature wrinkling (yikes). I am always one for a great setting spray to keep my makeup fresh throughout the day. Supergoop really delivered with this product. It smells great and even gives your foundation a nice, matte finish. If you have oily skin, this is a setting spray that you are going to fall in love with!

Obliphica Professional Seaberry Serum:

One of the hardest parts of having curly hair is keeping it moisturized. This is especially true in the summer. If you are heading to the beach this summer, you are going to want to pack this serum with you. Two pumps of this serum will restore shine and moisture to your hair. I saw that there are some reviews on Birchbox’s website that this product is too heavy. If you have finer hair, I recommend you only using one pump of this serum. I completely disagree that this serum provides weight. It is super light and will not leave your hair greasy.

Klorane Smoothing and Relaxing Patches with Soothing Cornflower:

I don’t know about you guys but when I am having a stressful week I love to take time for myself. Sometimes I will give myself a facial or take time to do my nails. These Klorane patches are so soothing. The moment I had them on, my eyes felt a cooling sensation from these patches.

Elizabeth Mott It’s So Big Volumizing Mascara:

If you are a subscriber of Birchbox, you were promised a tube of mascara for this month’s box. I have never heard of Elizabeth Mott, but she has a great brand. This mascara separates lashes, lengthens and provides volume. I did have to use two or three coats to achieve great volume. Needless to say, I am happy with my new addition to my makeup bag.

Are you a Birchbox subscriber? If so, what were your favorite products that you got this month? Feel free to let me know. I am always game to try new products!

Vince Camuto Wood Block Floral Print Raceback Slipdress

I love summer so much. It is great that this time of year each one of us can enjoy the sun, vacations, and time with our friends and family. This week, I had the chance to visit my family in Florida. I see some great beaches, explore Tampa and even had a chance to visit the happiest place on earth!

Needless to say, summer days in Florida can be brutal. As such, finding a great outfit for the day can be tricky. I am so grateful that my stylist Dana from Trunk Club sent me this Vince Camuto Wood Block Floral Print Raceback Slipdress (was that description long enough or what). This dress is super light which made it my dress of choice for this trip. When I use this dress for work, I like to accessorize it with a belt to make the dress a little more form fitting. Without a belt, the dress still looks great one. I am wearing this Vinco Camuto slipdress in SP. The slipdress is made of 100% polyester, so it is in fact, machine washable. This is great dress that can be used on its own or would par great with a blazer or denim jacket. This dress is also available in a blue option as well.

Dress: Vince Camuto, Hat: Aerie, Shoes: Target (OLD) You can find a similar option here.

During my visit in Florida, I had a chance to try a central american restaurant called Pupuseria & Cafeteria Centroamericana. I am very picky with my central american food (I am biased and think my mom’s is the best lol). I was so impressed to find that the food at Pupuseria was almost identical to my mom’s cooking. Of course, I had to have a pupusa while I was there. Pupusia are thick, homemade con tortilla that is traditionally filled with cheese or beans. If you want to try authentic central american cusine, this is the place to go!

Visiting Fort Desoto Beach in St. Petersburgs FL. The water was so warm!

Of course, a visit to Florida would not be complete if I did not get a chance to stop by DisneyWorld. Since we only had one day to visit the parks, my cousin and I decided to get park hopper passes. We met up with my sister and I surprised them by going to the Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom. The Crystal Palace is one of my favorite restaurants. You get to enjoy great food (buffet style) and also meet the characters from Winnie the Pooh. I totally recommend going here. The photos and memories we all shared at the Crystal Palace are worth every penny (don’t worry, the prices are not too outrageous).

Snuggling Winnie the Pooh at Magic Kingdom’s Crystal Palace.

I am so grateful that I got a chance to go down to Florida. I got to send my entire trip with my family. My cousin and I continue to grow closer and closer every time we get a chance to see each other. It is so amazing that we did not grow up together as kids but that we are so alike in so many ways. This summer, be sure to take time to visit your family if you can. You will not regret the time you spend with them. What fun adventures have you had this summer? Feel free to leave a comment below!
