Hi loves! If there is one thing I am passionate about it is helping others. While I love talking about fashion and beauty, I also feel it is important for me to discuss ways to help make a difference. With the recent natural disasters that are taking place in the world, it is easy to feel helpless. A certainly have felt that way this past week. Part of me wants to drop everything, volunteer for UNICEF or the American Red Cross to do what ever I can to help those in need. Right now, I can only help financially and to me, that is a great start.

I started this blog last year as a creative outlet to talk about my passion for fashion and beauty. I have had many tell me that I need to focus just on fashion and beauty to grow a following. But I feel not talking about promoting positivity or making a difference is not fair to me as a person. This is MY creative outlet. And while I do take into consideration what others have to say, I want to be true to who I am. Being able to express myself on my blog is an absolute joy. The fact that I am growing a following is an added plus. I am grateful that all of you allow me to be myself and discuss topics that matter to me. Especially because I know these topics matter to others as well.

With Mexico, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean facing unprecedented natural disasters, it is up to us to take action how ever we can. I feel that we as a first world county has a social responsibility to help those who are not a fortunate. The Huffington Post released an article today on the multiple ways to help our brothers and sisters in Mexico. You can donate to UNICEF Mexico, and Mexican American Red Cross. There are also several ways to help our brothers and sisters who were affected by Hurricane Harvey. You can see my post about it here.

I have also found a list of additional ways to help victims in Mexico, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean thanks to the darling Naty Michele. You can check out her original post here. As I find more resources, I will be adding to this post. While it is easy to seem helpless during times of crisis, you can take action every day to promote positivity. Be kind. Stay humble. Take the time every single day to be grateful. This world is full of some many grumps. Don’t be like everyone else! Kill people with kindness not words or hate or resentment. Your words have power. Use them wisely.

Love you all so freaking much!

If there one thing you can expect from Lauren Conrad‘s line at Kohls, it’s femininity. Lauren Conrad does a fabulous job at selecting timeless cuts and prints. This ruffle dress from her 2017 runway collection is no exception! The wine color and bold floral print make it the perfect piece for fall.

This is a dress that is PERFECT for a fall wedding. As an added bonus, this collection is also available for plus sizes! My heels are also by LC Lauren Conrad. I mean, how cute are the bows!? For some extra sparkle, I opted for my SugarFix earrings. As colder days approach, a black tweet blazer is great to pair with this dress. Mine is sold out but I found a similar one that is available at Target.

I love fall but it’s never easy to say goodbye to summer am I right? I am always cold, so for me, it’s always sweater weather (ha). Fall calls for cozy pieces that are easy to layer. This free people off the shoulder top is perfect for fall to say the least!

Since this top is on the baggier side, I would recommend sizing down. For reference, I am wearing this top in XS. I chose to wear this look with a pair of high waisted jeans and my favorite suede boots for a casual look. What are some of your favorite pieces to wear in the fall? Feel free to leave me a comment. Have a marvelous day loves!

Hi loves. If there is one thing I am committed to being is authentic. Being authentic means talking about all my passions which includes my desire to be philanthropic (even if  I am not making millions). If it were up to me, I would drop everything and lend a helping hand personally. Nonetheless, there is a way that you and I can give back t the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

Donating to the America Red Cross can be done from your laptop or your phone. Text HARVEY 90999 to give a $10 donation (this amount is added to your next phone bill). You can donate directly from the American Red Cross’ website here. You can also make a donation of the phone 1-800-RED-CROSS (I did this yesterday once I got in my car on my way home from work).

My sisters at Style Collective are also doing all they can to give back. You can purchase a tote bag or phone case. 100% of the proceeds are being donated directly to those who need it most in Houston

Also consider that many lives are left homeless. This includes hundreds of dogs and cats that will be in need of a new home. My fellow friend and blogger Christine from The Rescue Runway is rising funds to help animals in need. Your proceeds will help ensure that these animals are not only provided shelter but fresh water and food as well.

I hope this posts inspires you to pay it forward. Life is precious and it cannot be taken for granted. Make a difference by paying it forward. Be kind. Stay humble and seek to be better by a lending hand – not just in times of tragedy. Let’s do what we can to help our of brothers and sisters in Houston. Don’t let life fool you, there is a lot of good in this world. It starts with YOU.

xoxo.

Hi loves! It took forever, but I finally have an official blog post for this dress. There is a story behind this dress that I want to share so I apologize in advance but it is going to be long. And for those who are taking the time to read this, thank you. Thank you for just being amazing.

About a month ago, I hosted an Ann Taylor event at Paramus Mall in New Jersey. I got the chance to do this after a Style Collective meet-up was held there. I was so excited. This was going to be a shopping event that would give me a chance to connect with my fellow blogger friends while doing what we love most: shop! I will be the first to admit that I was a little disappointed that I only had eight girls signed up to go. Nonetheless, I tried not to stress out and stay positive.

Thankfully, my boyfriend was more than willing to join me for this event. I’m so grateful for him because through all my crazy endeavors and adventures, he is my number one fan. So he and I got to the store, waiting for our guests to arrive. While I was waiting, I was persuaded by Chantal to play dress up (and of course I could not say no).

As the night progressed, no one came. And I am not going to lie to you guys, I was heartbroken. I sent out invitations, reach out to people individually and here I was, by myself with my handsome man with no guests to entertain. Needless to say, I definitely felt like that girl in high school that was left out of the volleyball team because everyone else got picked first.

Thankfully, my boyfriend and girls as Ann Taylor kept my spirits high. In the end, fellow blogger Tanya came with a friend of hers. We got a chance to connect and had a blast playing dress up. As silly as I felt in the beginning, I was grateful that Tanya came out. Just having one person come out meant the world to me. And in this moment of embarrassed, I learned a few valuable lessons:

  1. Things are not always going to go as planned. So when they don’t, make sure you have the right company to remind you that the sky is not falling. What is my secret to stay as happy and optimistic as I am? The people I surround myself with. I am at a point in my life that has involved me closing doors on people who are not uplifting. And in doing so, I have been able to stay optimist and happy even in moments of sadness or fear.
  2. You never know where life is going to lead you. While I did not have a great group of girls at my event, I did make new friends. Tanya was so kind and willing to give blogging advice. And I can only hope I returned the favor to her. I became friends with Jessica the store manager and Chantal who helped me expand on my knowledge as a stylist. Her experience in mens and womans fashion has allowed me to have a new understanding as to how a stylist dresses people based upon their body shape, height and weight.
  3. Be adventurous with your sense of style. It sounds funny, but I did not think that this dress was going to fit me well. I fell in love with the pattern and thought it was not going to fit well on my at all. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it fit me well and is not one of my favorite pieces!

So regardless of what disappointments you may face this year, keep your chic held high. Surround yourself with people who inspire and uplift you. And don’t let life discourage you when things do not go as planned (easier said than done I know).

xoxo.
